Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld both seems to love and hate Al-Jazeera.

In an interview with Sir David Frost he told the veteran host that he was “delighted in what you are doing” in referring to the channel’s reporting on world events. (The praise clocks in roughly at the 15:25 mark)

Then in a subsequent interview with Al-Jazeera’s D.C. bureau chief  Abderrahim Foukara  Rumsfeld became far more critical of the network.

Maybe it was the fact that the interview with Frost was a little more friendly so Rumsfeld felt it necessary to praise Al-Jazeera while Foukara was far more confrontational bringing out the real Rumsfeld.

When reports first surfaced of Rumsfeld’s praise it had people scratching their heads. With the second interview the world has returned to normal.
