the radical leftist website is stirring up their supporters to help them save Obamacare from those vicious right-wingers.

Dear MoveOn member,

Starting on October 1, America will take a huge step towards universal health care. That’s the day that 22 million uninsured Americans will be able to start getting affordable health insurance under Obamacare.
But now, with just weeks to go, right-wing groups have launched a multi-million-dollar campaign to torpedo Obamacare before it even gets started.1

Their plan: Mislead young people about how the law works so they get scared and don’t enroll. The problem is that it really could work because if younger, healthier people don’t participate, then costs will skyrocket and Obamacare will fail. Period.

It’s disgusting—people could actually die because they don’t get the health insurance they need, and our entire health care system would be thrown into chaos. But these groups are soblinded by hate for Barack Obama that they’ll do anything to make his signature program go up in smoke.

To fight back, MoveOn is launching an urgent campaign of our own to debunk right-wing lies and go after Republican politicians and media outlets that spread misinformation—but we need to raise at least $250,000 in the next 72 hours to make sure we have the resources to set the record straight.

Can you donate in $5 to fund our urgent campaign to save Obamacare?

Yes, I can contribute $5.

Conservatives are so desperate to stop Obamacare from succeeding that they’re literally telling people to “burn your Obamacare card”—even though these cards don’t even exist.2

Our plan is to counter their misinformation campaign with a laser-like focus on social media and the websites where young people spend the most time. Young people live on the Internet today, and reaching them online is far cheaper than with traditional TV advertising.

Just for starters, we’ll be able to put an ad on the Facebook pages of 18- to 35-year-olds across America, and we’ll also run ads in college newspapers—right as students return to school—explaining the truth about what Obamacare means for young people.

We’ve seen these kinds of right-wing scare tactics work before—lies about Social Security have convinced an entire generation of young people that that program won’t be around in the future. And polling shows that awareness about the new program is dangerously low among the young people who need health insurance most.3

We can’t just sit back and hope for the best. And the clock’s ticking. We’ve got just weeks to fight back—and we’ve got just 72 hours until Sunday, when we’ll look at what’s come in, decide how big we can go with this campaign, and get started. Can you chip in?

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 to make sure right-wing extremists can’t kill health care reform.

We know from the past that MoveOn can run effective campaigns to debunk lies and misinformation. During the last election, we lampooned Mitt Romney’s lies with truth and humor, and it worked.

So, can you help us debunk the lies again?

We’ve reached a critical moment. Summer’s ending. School’s starting. And with just weeks to go, young people are starting to tune in. We’ve got a plan. We’re literally ready to wire money to our ad vendor and get started. But we’re 100% member-funded—and we can only do this campaign the right way if enough MoveOn members chip in.

MoveOn members were integral in passing the Affordable Care Act. We’ve come too far and fought too hard to let right-wing extremists succeed at making sure health care reform fails. Can you help out? Click below to donate $5 and help fund our urgent campaign stop the right-wing effort to kill Obamacare before it gets started.

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 to make sure right-wing extremists can’t kill health care reform.

Thanks for all you do.

Want to support our work? MoveOn Civic Action is entirely funded by our 8 million members—no corporate contributions, no big checks from CEOs. And our tiny staff ensures that small contributions go a long way. Chip in here.

Maybe  MoveOn should consult with AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka who said “mistakes” were made in Obamacare after learning that many union plans won’t qualify for federal tax subsidies.

Still worth saving?

From an email that I received last night.

Dear MoveOn member,

Anonymous attackers just tried to shut down MoveOn’s site.

Over the weekend, someone unleashed millions of artificial requests at our servers, preventing legitimate traffic from getting through, and temporarily shutting down our website. It’s what’s called a Denial of Service Attack, and this was the largest one we’ve ever faced. Over 15 years, through wars and heated elections, we’ve never seen anything like this.

It was the equivalent of someone firing a shot-gun through our window—clearly aimed to intimidate us and interrupt our work. Tens of of thousands of MoveOn members and other visitors were unable to organize on our site—sign petitions, plan events, run campaigns—for hours as our ace tech team raced to fight the attack and get the site back up.

We’re back up and running with new defense measure in place, but while this was the biggest attack we’ve faced, it won’t be the last. We must quickly beef up our defenses so MoveOn members can keep running campaigns that speak truth to power without fear.

Will you chip in $5 today to help make sure MoveOn is on and strong enough to withstand the next attack when it comes?

Yes, I’ll chip in to defend against anonymous attackers trying to shut MoveOn down.

While we were under attack, MoveOn staff couldn’t access some of our most essential tech tools. Over 45,000 MoveOn members were unable to reach their petition signers and campaign data. Over 300 groups met this weekend to kick off a massive anti-fracking campaign—and all those groups were briefly locked out of our systems.

Paralyzing MoveOn for a few hours was a big blow. Taking us out for a day would be a disaster. Our 8 million members are everywhere, fighting bravely to change this country, working on timely campaigns—they can’t wait for the tools and back-up we provide. We need to be ready for the next attack—and we will be.

With your support, we will:

  • Recover the costs of the extra tech time we already put in to recover from this most recent attack
  • Acquire new tools that’ll help us recover more quickly next time this happens
  • Continue to invest in best-in-class technology to power our campaigns

Will you help us protect ourselves from future malicious attacks and continue to invest in powerful tools that are changing the country?

Yes, I can chip in $5 to defend against anonymous attackers and keep vital campaigns going in the face of intimidation and sabotage.

Thanks for all you do.

Somehow except for the hardcore leftists that support MoveOn, I can’t imagine too many people are all that broken up about the DNS assault on their servers.

Left-wing groups along with organized labor have banded together to hold a three day conference in Washington D.C. starting today.

The conference called “Take Back the American Dream” takes a page from the very successful “defending the American Dream” conferences that conservative group Americans for Prosperity has been holding across the country for the last several years and helped energize the Tea Party movement that has so vexed the left.

From the conference website.

Two years ago, the corporate-backed Tea Party didn’t just win an election. It won the argument. Conservatives defined the agenda that we’ve had to fight against ever since.

This year, to save the nation, progressives must get back on offense and drive the agenda. We have to win not only in November … but also in December.

The first step to victory: Join us at the June 18-20 “Take Back the American Dream” conference.

At Take Back the American Dream, Van Jones, Paul Krugman, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Ai-jen Poo, Sandra Fluke, Gov. Howard Dean, Melissa Harris-Perry, Chris Hayes, Katrina vanden Heuvel and many more will share ideas and forge the strategy to make sure that the 99% is heard.

We’ll also have leading activists from Rebuild the Dream,, Occupy, 99% Spring, labor unions, civil rights and women’s rights groups who know how to win on the ground.

It’s About November — and December

In November, we have to win the White House — and win a big progressive majority in Congress. It won’t be easy, but the American majority is coming together.

Then in December, watch out.

The extreme right is already promising to hold the country hostage once more over raising the debt ceiling in order to force a “grand bargain” — gut Social Security and Medicare, cripple everything from food stamps to food safety, and accept mass unemployment as a grotesque “new normal.”

How do we stop this? Drive the debate. Mobilize our grassroots army. Make us impossible to ignore.

We will demand a “jobs first” strategy for recovery.

We will send the bill to those on Wall Street whose excesses made the mess we’re cleaning up.

We won’t ask working people to sacrifice when they’ve already swallowed needless cuts. We will insist on sacrifice from the multinationals still gaming the system, and the military still spending almost as much as the rest of the world.

We need you to bring the vision. You will shape the plan. And all of us will get it done.

Join us at the June 18-20 Take Back the American Dream conference to make victory possible.

We are the 99%. If we organize, if we force the debate, we can win not only the election but the argument. Not only November, but December.

We can do this. We just need you.

Corporate-backed Tea Party?  Oh, they must mean the “evil” Koch brothers who heavily  fund AFP, but the conference doesn’t have any other “corporate” sponsors that I am aware of.  Other conservative groups help co-sponsor the event, but it pales in comparison to who is backing this left-wing conference.

The website lists, SEIU, AFSCME, The Communication Workers of America and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union to name but a few showing the powerful alliances that have come together to combat the right.

If the left gets its way and they manage to help get President Obama re-elected, maintain control of the Senate and somehow manage to wrest control of Congress from the Republicans, they will get their dream back- A socialist dream.

We can’t let that happen.

The left-wing Soros funded has jumped head first into the Senate race to replace Olympis Snowe who announced last week that she would not be seeking re-election in November.

Dear MoveOn member,

Maine Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe announced this week that she is abruptly abandoning her reelection bid.1

This is huge! It significantly improves Democrats’ chances of holding on to the Senate this fall. Even better, it’s a tremendous opportunity to send a progressive champion to the Senate—Congresswoman Chellie Pingree. 2012 can truly can be the year of the strong progressive woman with Chellie joining Elizabeth Warren and Tammy Baldwin to run for the Senate.

Why should we be excited about Chellie? Quite simply, she kicks butt like few people in Washington do. Since being elected to Congress with MoveOn members’ support, she has organized other members of Congress to fight for a health care public option and to defend the Clean Air Act.2 Before that she was the director of Common Cause, a leading group working to get big money out of politics.3

A number of candidates may run, but Chellie would be by far the best: think Elizabeth Warren or Paul Wellstone. She’s leaning yes but has only a few days to decide.

We need to demonstrate right now that Chellie is the clear progressive choice for Maine and that MoveOn members will have her back. The best way to do that is to pledge to give Chellie whatever you can afford to support her campaign, so we can make her the instant front-runner in the race.

We’ve set an ambitious goal of gathering $200,000 in pledges for Chellie Pingree in 48 hours. You don’t have to enter your credit card info. Just click on an amount below to pledge:

Pledge $25

Pledge $50

Pledge $100

Pledge $250

Pledge another amount

Here’s how it will work: You tell us how much you’d give. Then we let Chellie, the press, and all of the other candidates who are considering running know how much MoveOn members have pledged to give to her campaign.

All of the potential challengers, including leading Republicans, are carefully watching how much support Chellie is getting from progressives like you. And if we all rally to her side right now, they may decide not to run.

In just the past couple days, Maine MoveOn members have helped build great momentum for Chellie’s candidacy. Chellie told The Huffington Post:

“We’ve gotten so many emails, calls, people offering to volunteer. I think MoveOn delivered 2,000 petitions to our office in Maine saying, ‘Please run.’ Clearly there’s already a ton of focus on this race and the role it could play in determining who controls the balance of power in the Senate. And I’m really excited about it.”4

No matter what happens, it won’t be an easy election, but it’s one Chellie can win, if MoveOn members rally to her side. We have to show Chellie that she’ll have the resources she needs to win the race. This is our chance to elect a champion to the Senate to join Elizabeth Warren and Tammy Baldwin. This can be the year of the progressive women, but only with your support.

Will you let us know how much you’d pledge to Chellie’s campaign right now, and ask all your friends to do the same?

Thanks for all you do.

–Julia, Adam, Steven, Elena, and the rest of the team

Maine is a pretty progressive state and Snowe was at best a RINO, but any endorsement by should give voters a clue as to how far to the left Pingree really is.
